Intertwingled | Exhibition | La Galleria Nazionale | Rome


Intertwingled. The Role of the Rug in Arts, Crafts and Design is my second exhibition co-curated with Inga Knölke. Opening after a two-year delay, it is part of a trilogy that began with On Flower Power (2019), which was based on the impossibility of incorporating empathy into artificial intelligence. Here, we continue with the concept of a network and the (im)possibility of its visualization through an interface. In 2023 we will complete the cycle with the theme of food as the last real object. The term “intertwingled” was coined by Ted Nelson in 1960 to define the complexity, changeability and indeterminacy of hypertexts running on connecting computers. The exhibition puts forward a vision of our globally interconnected world using the carpet as a metaphor and also as an interface that demonstrates and codifies a hidden complexity.
