Ex-Designer Project Bar | DHUB | Barcelona

On view until the 25th of August

In 2015, Martí Guixé, with the collaboration of Pau Badia, opened the Ex-Designer Project Bar where drinking and printing naturally merged, becoming the first bar built entirely using 3D additive manufacturing. The project has been documented photographically by Inga Knölke since the beginning. The Sisyphean task of printing, the adventures of the space as a bar, the convoluted origin of the name, and the vague and changing purpose of the project have culminated in an object at DHUB in Barcelona.

In its delayed inauguration, the project perplexes us, as it is not an ending but rather a rebirth in which the bar proposes itself as transversal and open, away from its primary functions, almost mystical. Like an archaeological ruin of the future with an unprecedented energy to create and configure contexts, functions, and fictions through its mere presence and its intricate history of more than nine years of continuous transformation, adaptation, and resilience.

The new Ex-Designer Project Bar has emerged as an active and transformative agent, positioning itself between object and subject: the ultimate catalyst.
